By accessing or using Semestra ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Semestra is an AI-powered course planning assistant for community college students. For each participating college, it provides course information, prerequisites, unit counts, transferability, general education designations, and term-by-term transfer or degree plans, based on that college's publicly available course catalog. The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to any college it covers.

3. AI-Generated Content

Semestra uses artificial intelligence to generate responses, and labels many of them with a confidence level (Verified, Partially verified, or Unverified) based on how directly they're grounded in your college's catalog. Even so, AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. You should not rely solely on Semestra for academic decisions. Always verify important information with your college's official resources, your academic advisor, or the registrar's office.

4. No Guarantee of Accuracy

Course data, including prerequisites, unit counts, transferability, and general education designations, is sourced from each college's published catalog and may not reflect current or future offerings. We do not guarantee that any course will be offered in a specific term, or that catalog requirements will remain unchanged after a plan is built.

5. User Accounts

You may sign in with your Google account. Some colleges restrict sign-in to their institutional email domain. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Anonymous users may use the Service with limited access. We reserve the right to limit or terminate accounts at our discretion.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for academic dishonesty, including but not limited to homework or exam assistance
• Attempt to extract, scrape, or systematically download data from the Service
• Abuse, overload, or interfere with the Service's infrastructure
• Share or distribute content from the Service in a misleading manner

7. Intellectual Property

The Semestra name, logo, and interface design are proprietary. Course data is derived from each college's publicly available catalog. You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., transcript uploads), which is processed solely to provide personalized recommendations.

8. Limitation of Liability

Semestra is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to academic outcomes, course selection decisions, or reliance on AI-generated information.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
